I believe this is a wonderful course. I’m glad that I got to be a part of it. This class has helped me so much, and I will always remember what I learned during it.
Before we started the course, what were your expectations?
Before I started this course, I really didn't know what I was getting myself into. I had low expectations of myself.
Now that we've been through the course, did it go as you expected? Why? Or, why not?
This course was not what I expected, because I didn't think that I would have learned as much as I actually did.
Do you think you have something to contribute to your family, community, and world?
I do think I have something to contribute. I might not know what it is yet, but I am a strong believer that everyone has something to contribute.
Has this course helped to give you any direction in a career choice? If so, how?
Yes, I learned that I still wanted to be a welder.
I think the class was really good. I enjoyed going to other places and learning about what they do and how they do it.
Do you think that work can be meaningful?
I think that work can be meaningful, but you have to put the meaning into it.
What did you learn about yourself?
I have a purpose in the workplace. I’ve always told myself that I can’t do something if it looks hard and never challenged myself. Now I am looking for more challenges.
I learned the different jobs that I don’t like and now know that I wouldn’t want to do them for a living.
I learned that the trades might not be for me unless I find the right one.
I learned that I have a lot of potential, and that always doing my best, even when no one is looking, is very important.
What factors contribute to the craftsman enjoying their job?
1) A culture of community, 2) doing things right, and 3) being proud of what you do.
